Wedding Insurance

and why you need it.

Updated 20th October 2022

We want you to relax and enjoy every moment of your wedding planning. To start your journey in the best way possible we strongly recommend you take out Wedding Insurance.

What does Wedding Insurance cover?

All policies are different but typically, wedding insurance covers you against an unforeseen event beyond your control that results in the cancellation or postponement of your wedding, in addition to covering you for loss or damage to the bride and grooms wedding outfits', transport, suppliers, caterers, gifts, wedding and engagement rings, cake and flowers as well as offering some personal liability cover and legal expenses.

However, it won’t cover against any personal decision to cancel or postpone the wedding.

It’s also worth noting that it won’t cover your honeymoon, you will need to take out travel insurance to cover this.

Do you need Wedding Insurance?

Although you hope never to need it, the relatively small cost of wedding insurance can be a welcome safety net. Much like buying travel insurance before a big holiday. Protecting yourself against any potential problems can help to give you peace of mind throughout your preparations. Knowing that all the elements that you poured your heart, soul and hard-earned money into are all protected in case something does go wrong.

Where can I buy Wedding Insurance?

You are at liberty to source your own wedding insurance supplier and there are lots of different policies on the market. Simply Google ‘wedding insurance’ and you’ll find some big-name suppliers.

Be sure to do your research and choose a policy that suits you.

Remember wedding insurance suppliers are more than happy to share their insurance policy documents with you prior to taking out your policy, so you can see exactly what you will be covered for. Once you have purchased your insurance, keep your policy details safe and accessible up until the big day and save all your receipts along the way.

How much does it cost?

From as little as £60 for the most basic insurance, up to around £300+ for comprehensive cover. Ultimately the cost will be dependent on the amount you are planning to spend on your wedding and the level of risk you are willing to take.

How do I choose which policy?

It’s a great idea to work out how much you are going to spend on each wedding item, then find a policy that covers everything on your list at the right amount for each individual item.

We can’t advise you on which policy to take out, but we can tell you it’s a great idea. It’s more than likely that everything will go to plan and you will have the perfect day that you’ve been dreaming of. But we highly recommend protecting your perfect day, just in case!
