Kids at Weddings

Keep the kids happy at Weddings!

Quite often when I’m showing a newly engaged couple around The Ashes, the Bride-To-Be will say to me ‘you have a fantastic job!’ and it’s true! It is a real honour, to play just a small part, in making a couple’s dream wedding, become a reality.  As Event Managers we try to remain in the background on your big day, we’re just there to make sure everything is goes to plan, but it’s lovely when we see a small nugget of advice we’ve given at the Final Planning Meeting, make a positive difference to the day.  With that in mind, I thought I’d try to pass on a couple of helpful tips I’ve picked up during this summer’s busy wedding season, the first being how to keep the kids happy at weddings.

A Family Day

If you’re making it a real family affair and inviting young children to your wedding, it’s worth making a little effort to keep them happy and entertained. A great tip is to provide a little ‘goody bag’ at their place setting with age appropriate goodies inside.  For children aged 3 and upwards, a colouring book and some pencils, will keep them happy for quite some time.  One lovely couple this summer put little mini Lego characters out for the children to build during dinner, another provided little necklace making sets which all the little girls loved. As tempting as it is, it’s not always a good idea to put sweets in the goody bag as children are much less likely to stay put and let their parents enjoy the meal, when they’re enjoying a sugar high!
That’s it from me for now, I’ve started a scrapbook which is filling up nicely with all the things my happy couples have delighted and surprised me with this year, so watch this space!
Warm Regards,
